Use the files of the base game. Modded worlds (tModLoader) are not read.

How it works

The viewer reads your world file the same way the game loads it, in a background task of your browser.

Each tile is drawn in the colour the game map uses for it. The colour table (2195 colours) is read from the game itself.

The whole world is shown, also the parts you have not explored yet.

Layers

Chests: every chest and dresser the file lists. Tap one to see what is inside.
Town NPC houses: the home each town NPC has in the file.
Dungeon: the dungeon position the world file stores.
Jungle Temple, Pyramids and Living Trees: the walls the world generator builds them with. Player builds with the same walls can show up too.
Shimmer: shimmer liquid, at least 50 tiles together.
Enchanted Sword shrines: the sword in stone the generator places. Some shrines have only a decoy sword that drops nothing.
Ores and gems: every tile of that kind, highlighted.

Limits

The map is drawn as if every tile were lit. A sand flow is drawn without a biome tint, and cactus arms take their colour from the ground below the arm.

Reads world files of versions 279 to 326. Build 24893155 writes version 326. Tested on real world files of version 317.
